The Perfect Itinerary

You need at least 4 days in Stockholm.
This is our preferred itinerary, but have several more suggestions.
(Explore this list or do nothing at all, both are completely acceptable here).

Day 1

Thursday / Arrival Day to Stockholm Haus

Check-in is 4pm.
Unpack + unwind.

- We suggest you arrive, unpack right away.
- Stock your fridges accordingly, don't forget the cabana has a kitchenette and full-size fridge.
- Relax poolside and chill out after the drive in.
- Dinner at Humble Moon Saloon  or Hop Dish + Vine
We love HMS for the first night because it's super laid back, has an outdoor patio, homemade food and usually has live music in the season and a great beer list. We love HDV because of the sunken patio, twinkly lights at night and made from scratch menu with fresh ingredients from local farmers. Choice is yours!

Day 2

Hike, Wine Tasting + River Time

Get up early and start the day with a sunrise hike along Maiden Rock Bluff. It's worth it, the views are stunning (and it's a great photo opportunity). We suggest you pack some pastries from Little Lark Bakery in downtown Stockholm or The Smiling Pelican in Maiden Rock.

Get back to the Haus, take a nice dip in the pool and get ready for dinner and wine tasting at Villa Bellezza 4 miles away, in Pepin. Start with wine tasting or a tour and then move over to the fantastic menu and al fresco dining on the piazza.

Catch the sunset over Lake Pepin from the marina (go all the way out on the pier) and the evening at RiverTime.  Live Music, great food, wine,
people and beer.

Day 3

Shopping, Sailing and Sunset

If you're feeling up for it (after all that dancing last night at River Time - or the Pickle Factory) we suggest you take the stroll from Stockholm Haus down to the village. (25 mins)

There are plenty of options for breakfast and lunch.
Hop + Vine, Stockholm Pie Company, Humble Moon Saloon, Little Lark Bakery, The Palate
and Allaire Coffee House

Enjoy your nibbles and start shopping.
Iris & Oak, ScandiHoo and STOCK HOME are just a few suggestions along your way.

Schedule your sail during sunset and end the night at Harbor View Cafe, just across from the Pepin Marina. There might even be live music at the Pickle Factory afterwards!!

Day 4

Lavender Picnics,  Cidery and
Long Goodbyes

Did we say 4 days was enough?
It's really not. So, let's sleep in and enjoy those amazing beds, go for a brisk morning swim, make a fresh cappa and check-out at 11am. Make your way to
Lavender Bluff Farm along the Great River Road, have a picnic made from Stockholm Pie Company and lay a blanket down in the lavender fields and get a true, blissful "in nature" experience. And of course, hundreds of photos, because... we know.

Believe me, you'll want everything there.
On your way out of town, stop at
Maiden Rock Apple Orchard / Winery and Cidery.
But wait, there is so much more to do in this area. Maybe you just want to book another day.

Day 5

Road Trip to Alma, Nelson + Wabasha

In case you booked another few days, here are some additional daily options for you.

After breakfast of choice, jump in the car and make your way south along Hwy 35 (Great River Road) to Alma, Wisconsin. Enjoy some hiking and breathtaking views
at Buena Vista Overlook.
Next stop is back to Nelson for lunch at the hidden gem we adore, the Nelson Creamery. (Our favorite is the Hot Eddy sandwich outside on the patio).

Next stop is across the Mississippi River to Wabasha, MN.
The National Eagle Center is both impressive and inspiring. Great for kids and adults. There are a few shops and such along the main street, definitely worth a peek.

On the way back to Stockholm, stop by
Township 23 Distillery.

Day 6

Little House in the Big Woods

Since you're here a bit longer, might as well get to know our girl, Laura Ingalls Wilder.

The author of Little House in the Big Woods lived just a couple miles from Stockholm Haus. Grab your bikes or drive over to see the charming log cabin. If you're lucky, the incredible Good Turn Farm might be open! (It's next door) Where Annelie and Kevin are growing vegetables, flowers, and mushrooms in the driftless region of Western Wisconsin, if you're here on a Friday/Saturday be sure to get your grocery list in by Tuesday. (All fresh vegetables and flowers during your stay, sounds like a dream!)

If you're still vibin' on Laura Ingalls, head down to Pepin and check out the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum! Grab a refreshment and a Friday Fish Fry at
Captains Legacy a block away.

Day 7

Palate + Paddle

In all honesty, you should really just book a week stay.
Today's adventure brings you back to the village of Stockholm (by now you know it's just down the hill and you're probably going to walk there because it's giving you those extra steps you need).

Start your early afternoon with a cooking class
at The Palate.

A delicious french-inspired shop that offers amazing cheese/wine happy hours and cooking classes. The owner says, "It’s difficult to put our little store in Stockholm into words that represent who we are. It feels to me like a slice of days gone by wrapped up with all things FINE, experiential and a bit French".
Count us in!

Now that you're full of cheese, it's time for your
Sunset Tour + Brewpub.  The fantastic crew at
Broken Paddle Company offer this and many other paddling options. Paddle first, beers later.
All ages and experiences welcome.

And the finale...
Day 8

Pool day. Full stop.

I don't know about you... but you've been busy.
Today you get to chill out.
Enjoy your final day of pure relaxation.

Unless you book another day?
